Hey, bookworms! Welcome to day 2 of the Winter 2018 Biannual Bibliothon! Today’s blog challenge was put together by Sam @ Will Read For Booze, and for this challenge, you can create your own bookish beverage. For more info on this challenge, click the link above.
My Bookish Beverage is based on Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. It is an Espresso-Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Milkshake! Let’s get started!
4 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream
1 shot of espresso
3/4 cup of milk
6 tbsp chocolate chip cookie dough
blue food coloring
mini chocolate chips
1 additional tbsp chocolate chip cookie dough, rolled into a ball
1. In a blender, add the ice cream, espresso, milk, and cookie dough, and blend until it is almost the desired consistency.
2. Add blue food coloring and blend, repeating the process until you have the desired shade.
3. Pour into a milkshake glass and, in this order, top with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, mini chocolate chips, a blue cherry in the center and cookie dough ball on the edge.
Why I chose these ingredients
Espressso – I chose the espresso because of the caffeine. Percy is always hyperactive and it’s like he drank a lot of espressos.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – This was chosen because in the first book, Percy experiences the taste of Nectar and to him, it tasted like his mother’s blue chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven.
Blue Food Coloring and Cherries – Percy is known for his love of blue food because when he was young, his stepfather told him there was no such thing as blue food and from then on, Percy’s mom would make blue food all the time.
I hope you enjoyed this challenge as much as I did. It was unique and fun and interesting. Go check out Sam’s blog linked above at the beginning of this post. I hope your day is awesome and filled with books. Happy reading!
